meet twyla
Twyla is a special service dog with a big heart and an even bigger purpose. As part of the team at a Emma's House, she provides comfort and companionship to children.. Whether it's sitting quietly by their side, offering a gentle paw, or playing games, Twyla helps kids feel safe and supported during difficult moments. Her calm presence allows children to open up and express themselves, creating a sense of peace during times that can often feel overwhelming. Twyla's dedication to helping others has made her an invaluable part of the healing process, showing kids that they’re never alone, no matter what they’re facing.
Twyla joined our staff in the spring of 2016 and has made a tremendous impact since her arrival. She was trained at Canine Companions for Independence in Santa Rosa, CA and was selected specifically for Emma's House.
When she's not working, Twyla enjoys long naps in various locations, keeping time through kibbles and long walks.
Studies show the trust, acceptance, and tactile comfort of a friendly dog change the physiology of a nervous child.
